A well-established professional services organisation is seeking a Commercial Accountant to help translate financial data into clear commercial insight, supporting better decision-making that delivers value for members. This role offers a highly flexible working pattern, with just 1 day per week in the office and the remainder working remotely, alongside an attractive benefits package and a salary of £40,000–£50,000.
The Role
- Act as a trusted finance business partner across the organisation, embedding financial focus into decision-making and driving measurable improvements in margins and cost efficiency.
- Partner with departments across the business, challenging assumptions and influencing decisions with robust financial insight.
- Analyse income, margin and cost drivers, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Support the preparation of budgets and rolling forecasts, factoring in internal and external drivers.
- Monitor performance against budget and constructively challenge variances with senior stakeholders.
- Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs and financial ratios that clearly show business performance.
- Develop and improve profit and cost centre structures.
- Support change initiatives through project appraisals and cost-benefit analysis.
- Assist the CFO with accurate Board reporting, including insightful month-end commentary.
The Candidate
- Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of improving margins, cost efficiency and return on investment.
- Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to translate complex financial or actuarial data into clear, actionable insight.
- Confidence in respectfully challenging assumptions and influencing stakeholders across non-finance teams.
- Experience building financial dashboards and turning data into a compelling narrative for decision-makers.
