Our client is seeking a talented solicitor to join its established Employment Law team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative and experienced team, advising a diverse range of clients on complex and rewarding employment law matters.

The Opportunity
You'll join a Legal 500-recognised Employment team that advises SMEs, owner-managed businesses, national organisations and international clients across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.

Working alongside highly experienced colleagues, many with over 15 years' PQE, you'll gain exposure to high-quality work while developing your own expertise and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
You'll manage a varied caseload and provide commercially focused advice across a range of employment law matters, including:

Employment Tribunal Litigation

  • Managing Employment Tribunal proceedings from inception through to conclusion.
  • Reviewing case papers and advising on prospects of success.
  • Drafting claims, responses and Employment Appeal Tribunal applications.
  • Preparing witness statements and case documentation.
  • Briefing and liaising with Counsel.
  • Attending hearings where appropriate.
  • Keeping clients and stakeholders updated throughout proceedings.

Advisory & HR Support

  • Advising insurers, insured clients and private businesses on day-to-day employment law matters.
  • Managing ACAS Early Conciliation matters, including settlement negotiations and agreements.
  • Providing strategic advice on employee relations issues, grievances and disciplinary processes.
  • Drafting and reviewing:
    • Employment contracts
    • Settlement agreements
    • Employee handbooks
    • HR policies and procedures
  • Advising on complex projects, including TUPE transfers and collective consultation exercises.

Business Development & Knowledge Sharing

  • Delivering employment law training and presentations to clients and colleagues.
  • Assisting with legal updates, articles and marketing materials.
  • Supporting colleagues across the wider business with employment-related matters.
  • Maintaining accurate records, time recording and client billing.

About You

We're keen to hear from Solicitors who can demonstrate:

  • Experience handling both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
  • Strong Employment Tribunal experience.
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to client advice.
  • Ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office applications and legal research tools.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification.
