We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Business Services to join a growing, independent firm in Wakefield.
As the Head of Business Services, you will be responsible for:
- Acting as the primary contact for Business Services, managing client relationships, team input, and escalated issues.
- Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring high standards of service.
- Overseeing payroll delivery and holding overall responsibility for personal tax.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including onboarding and AML.
- Advising clients on commercial and tax matters, identifying needs and solutions.
- Handling fee negotiations, billing accuracy, and time/cost recovery.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Allocating work and maintaining high technical standards across the team.
- Supporting development of apprentices and trainees, ensuring progress toward qualifications.
- Contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maximising use of IT systems (Sage, Xero, CCH, MS Office).
- Ensuring adherence to CPD and internal training programmes.
To qualify for this role, ideally you should meet the following:
- Experience managing your own portfolio of clients and overseeing staff.
- Thorough expertise in key areas of regulation, compliance and risk oversight.
- Strong commercial acumen and insight, understands a diverse range of client sectors.
- An experienced people manager, adept at leading and mentoring a team, effectively delegating tasks and managing workflow, driving team performance and professional development, and promoting a positive and accountable team culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator – producing clear verbal and written communication for both colleagues and clients with experience of professional report writing and proposal development.
- Skilled in the use of Excel and Microsoft Office. CCH experience is desirable but not essential.
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
