An established independent accountancy practice in Sheffield is looking to appoint a Part Qualified Accountant to its growing team. The firm works with a varied client base, ranging from sole traders and owner-managed businesses through to larger organisations, providing accounts, tax, audit and wider advisory services. Working as part of an experienced practice team, you will manage a varied workload while developing your technical and client facing skills. The role will provide exposure across accounts preparation, management accounts, VAT and bookkeeping, with opportunities to gain further experience in audit and advisory work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and supporting schedules
- Complete bookkeeping assignments and maintain accurate accounting records
- Prepare and submit VAT returns for a portfolio of clients
- Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Use cloud and desktop accounting packages including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
- Support senior colleagues with audit assignments and compliance work
- Assist with reviewing accounting processes and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Liaise with clients and colleagues to obtain information and resolve queries
Candidate profile
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Studying towards AAT, ACCA or another relevant accounting qualification, or qualified by experience
- Good grounding in accounts preparation, reconciliations, bookkeeping and VAT
- Understanding of UK accounting requirements and basic tax principles relevant to SMEs
- Comfortable using accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Organised approach with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients
Package and working pattern
Salary: £26,000 - £32,000. This is an office based role in Sheffield, with the successful candidate joining an established accountancy practice team. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualification level. The position would suit someone progressing through their professional studies who is looking for broader exposure across accounts, tax and audit.
