In this senior leadership role the Head of Commercial Finance will take ownership of financial planning and analysis, commercial insight and M&A evaluation, enabling the business to allocate capital effectively, grow profitably and scale with confidence. Positioned at the centre of strategy, growth and transformation, the Head of Commercial Finance partners closely with the Executive team and Board, providing clarity, challenge and direction.
Key responsibilities:
- Financial Planning, Analysis & Review (FP&A)
- Own the Group FP&A framework and forward-looking financial insight
- Lead long-range planning, scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis
- Develop rolling forecasts linking commercial activity to financial outcomes
- Analyse performance trends, identifying growth drivers, margin risks and cost pressures
- Deliver clear, decision-focused insight for the Executive team and Board
- Commercial Insight & Decision Support
- Partner with Sales, Operations and Commercial teams to improve profitability
- Lead pricing, margin and customer profitability analysis
- Support major commercial decisions including tenders, contracts and strategic initiatives
- Translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for non-finance leaders
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Growth
- Support the identification and evaluation of acquisition opportunities
- Build and review financial models covering valuation, synergies and risks
- Lead financial due diligence alongside external advisers
- Assess deal structures, funding options and financial impact
- Support post-acquisition integration to ensure assumptions translate into delivery
- Capital Allocation & Investment Review
- Evaluate and prioritise capital investment proposals
- Build robust business cases for growth, automation and strategic projects
- Track and review returns against original investment assumptions
About You:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Significant experience in a senior commercial finance or FP&A role
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting and scenario planning capability
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including target evaluation and financial due diligence
- A background in a highly operational, margin-driven environment
- The ability to turn complex financial data into clear, actionable insight
- Confidence challenging assumptions and influencing senior decision-makers
- A strategic mindset combined with strong commercial curiosity
