Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Temporary Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial records of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial information, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing management reports, supporting payroll, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting the wider business.
Duties of
Bookkeeper: Maintain accurate day-to-day financial records using the company's accounting software.
Process and reconcile sales and purchase ledger transactions.
Raise customer invoices and allocate customer receipts.
Process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and prepare payment runs.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
Manage petty cash and company credit card transactions.
Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
Carry out credit control activities, including chasing outstanding payments and resolving customer account queries.
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger adjustments.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
Assist with payroll preparation, pension administration, and employee expense processing.
Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports for management.
Support budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
Prepare year-end schedules and liaise with external accountants during the year-end accounts process.
Maintain the fixed asset register where applicable.
Ensure all financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company procedures and relevant legislation.
Maintain confidential financial information and ensure data accuracy at all times.
Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as required.
Maintain organised financial filing systems, both electronic and paper-based.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls.
Respond promptly to supplier, customer, and internal finance queries.
Support the wider business with financial and administrative tasks as required.
Ensure all month-end and year-end deadlines are met.
Carry out any other bookkeeping, finance, or administrative duties appropriate to the role.
