IPS Finance is working with an established independent accountancy practice in Barnsley on the appointment of a Practice Manager. This is an opportunity to join a successful local firm at an important stage in its development, taking a key role in the day to day running of the practice and working closely with the existing owners. The firm has a loyal and established client base, predominantly made up of owner managed businesses, and has built its reputation around providing a personal and commercially focused service. For the right person, there is scope for the position to develop beyond a traditional Practice Manager role, with the potential for future buy in and an ownership stake in the firm.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of owner managed business clients and acting as a key point of contact
- Reviewing accounts and tax work prepared by the wider team
- Preparing accounts where required, particularly for more complex clients
- Supporting and developing junior and qualified members of the team
- Overseeing workflow and helping to manage deadlines across the practice
- Advising clients on accounting software, systems and general business matters
- Working closely with the owners on the continued development of the firm
- Building strong relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities to provide additional support
- Playing an increasingly important role in the management and future direction of the practice
The position would suit an experienced Practice Manager or Senior Manager who enjoys working closely with SME and owner managed clients and would like greater influence over how a firm is run. ACA or ACCA qualification would be preferred, although experience, client relationships and the ability to manage a broad practice portfolio will be equally important.
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 plus future equity opportunities.
