An established and growing property business in Hull is looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant to strengthen its in house finance team. The business has a diverse portfolio of commercial property interests alongside an active pipeline of development and investment activity, providing a varied environment for someone looking to develop their management accounting experience.
Working as part of a small finance team, the Assistant Management Accountant will support the production of timely and accurate management information across the group. This is a broad role combining month end accounting with transactional oversight, balance sheet work and financial analysis. There will be good exposure to different entities and property related projects, making it well suited to someone studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts across a portfolio of companies.
- Prepare and post accruals, prepayments and other month-end journals.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Assist with the analysis of income, expenditure and performance against budget.
- Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities and cost centres.
- Support VAT returns and other routine financial reporting requirements.
- Assist with purchase and sales ledger activity where required, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded and allocated.
- Provide financial information and analysis to colleagues across the wider business.
- Support year end processes and provide information for the external accountants and auditors.
Candidate Profile
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA, with study support potentially available.
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance team, ideally with some exposure to management accounts.
- Comfortable working with accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
- Able to manage responsibilities across multiple companies, projects or cost centres.
- Good attention to detail with a practical approach to resolving accounting queries.
- Comfortable working in a small finance team where responsibilities can be varied.
Package and Working Pattern
Salary: Β£30,000 - Β£40,000
Full-time, permanent position.
Hull based.
Study support for an appropriate professional accounting qualification can be considered.
