Our client is recruiting for the Assistant Accountant to join their finance team within a dynamic and growing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, who is looking to build their career in finance and accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assisting with stock and cost accounting, working closely with operations to understand variances.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Supporting year-end and audit requirements.
  • Assisting in the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the Finance Manager and wider team.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Actively studying or keen to study AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
