We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to support IPRS Health growth and development strategy as our New Business Lead. This position offers hybrid working within the UK with travel.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Business Development and SLT to identify opportunities that align with the organisation's growth strategy and develop the sales pipeline. Your primary role is to be accountable for the identification and assessment of new business opportunities and support the formal bid and proposal process. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and a passion for securing new business and will be experienced in the field of health within the public (including NHS) and across the private sector. You will have a strong track record of managing complex administrative processes and some project management experience. The role will also include aspects of client management to support the wider business requirements.
MAIN DUTIES
- Direct Sales Activity
- Undertake both inbound and outbound sales activity, including generating sales leads in line with the overall sales strategy.
- Support the preparation and writing of proposals and sales materials.
- Attend client sites (nationally) to assist with presentations, introductory meetings, and relationship-building.
- Travel to meet prospective and existing clients for face-to-face discussions.
- Conduct follow-ups with clients after meetings to provide additional information, answer questions, and maintain engagement.
- Conduct regular check-ins with clients to understand their needs and identify new opportunities.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote the service and meet prospective clients.
- Conduct on-site demonstrations or walkthroughs of products/services for clients.
- Shadow IPRS Health SLT on client visits to learn best practices and support relationship development.
- Gather client feedback during visits and communicate insights back to the team to inform service improvements.
- Manage tender portals and create search criteria to identify opportunities that align with sales' target sectors.
- Create opportunity overview document and present rationale for bid/no bid.
- Support kick-off meetings, status updates, and review sessions with bid team members and stakeholders.
- Assist with the coordination of bid responses from opportunity qualification to submission and post-bid review.
- Organise and maintain bid schedules, timelines, and responsibilities to ensure all milestones are met.
- Liaise with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather, format, and finalise content for submissions.
- Help develop and edit bid content library ensuring it meets client requirements and internal standards for future bids.
- Format and prepare final bid documents, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance.
- Create and use templates and bid libraries to assemble documents efficiently, while maintaining quality.
- Ensure that all bid responses comply with internal governance procedures and external submission requirements.
- Work with the governance team to ensure supporting documents and policies are up to date and included as needed.
- Coordinate with colleagues across departments (operations, HR, finance, legal, commercial, client relations) to collect required input and approvals.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project timelines and expectations.
- Manage the process of compiling and producing high quality tender submissions in order to win contracts for IPRS Health, including planning, drafting, support with writing and coordinating responses to bids.
- Responsible for the timely planning, management and completion of allocated questionnaires and tender submissions, with accurate and up to date information.
- Lead the effective compilation and ongoing management of a corporate new business pipeline which is fed by service type from information gathered from the market, external and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate and manage the IPRS Health internal business development governance framework, including checkpoints and gateway approval processes.
- Develop and maintain a content library, uploading all new bid content for future reference.
- Liaise with Marketing teams to ensure marketing material used within submissions is contemporary.
- Support social media/marketing campaigns sharing product/service development.
- Attend regular meetings with internal stakeholders to support the delivery of bids.
- Ensure input from relevant internal stakeholders and directorate leads, to enable a well-documented and ratified bid processes, which satisfies the relevant checks and balances pertaining to clinical, quality, operations, finance and planning.
- Enable others to support the business development activity, where in some cases individuals are under pressure or have conflicting workloads, being sensitive yet tenacious to achieve shared company objectives.
- Initiate, develop and maintain excellent third-party relationships (Brokers and Framework management).
- Attend networking events to optimise opportunities and support the delivery of growth.
- Keep abreast of Business Development opportunities for Services within the organisation.
- Identify and initiate opportunities for strategic or operational partnerships.
- Support IPRS Health teams with client relations and delivery of service improvement initiatives when required.
- Ensure that personal mandatory or organisationally required training is up to date.
- Engage in regular appraisal process and subsequent learning/change in practice.
- Maintain sound knowledge of procurement legislation and implement necessary changes in practice within the organisation.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Able to pull together information, obtained from a variety of sources, in a format which is both interesting and comprehensive.
- Seeks opportunities to streamline and improve work processes and tender submissions.
- Good organisational and IT skills essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of stakeholder and customer engagement; possessing sales and customer service skills is essential.
- Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
- This is a hybrid role with significant travel required, including visits to IPRS Group sites and national travel to support presentations and attend industry-specific conferences.
