As a Functional Assessor, you will conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence‑based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) as part of the DWP\’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS). You will interview claimants to understand the challenges they face and carry out detailed assessments through telephone, video, or face‑to‑face appointments to understand how a claimants disability, condition, or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities in a respectful, fair, and reassuring manner.
With proven experience of working within a medical background you will:
- Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
- Interpret clinical information and evidence.
- Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct.
- Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (listed below)
- An ability to demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge.
- Previous experience in using computer software including Microsoft Office.

- Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only)
- Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)

- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or College of OTs (COT)

Salary & Employment Details
Salary: £40,000.00
Type: Permanent (Hybrid role)
Full time: 40 hours (Mon – Fri from 8:30am – 5pm)
Location: Brighton. (You MUST be located within a 90‑minute radius of the site to be considered for this role)
