On July 1, 2025, IPL Plastics merged with Schoeller Allibert to form IPL Schoeller (the ‘company’). The Company’s operations are split across North America (11 manufacturing plants) and Europe (16 manufacturing plants). The company is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. IPL Schoeller is a leading manufacturer of sustainable rigid packaging solutions across a range of end market segments including returnable transit packaging, consumer and industrial packaging, environmental containers and agricultural packaging. The role of Process Technician is a hands-on technical professional responsible for monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and improving manufacturing/production processes to ensure efficiency, safety and product quality.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday - 08:00-16:30
As a Process Technician at IPL You Will:
- New tool installations
- Commissioning of equipment
- Test and develop new and existing moulds
- Ancillary equipment set up and optimization
- Assigned Projects
- Developing and training processing standard parameters
- Improving process performance by achieving and maintaining optimum production efficiencies
- Cycle time adherence
- Quality / SPC set up and process monitoring
- Daily reports
- Standard Processing conditions
- Assist in the training of Shift Process Staff where required
- Changeover Preparation, Mould Changes, Colour Changes, Material Changes, Insert Changes, Version Changes
- Drive Continuous Improvement activities through problem solving and lean techniques
- Act as a Trial Champion including but not limited to Mould, Process, Product, Material, Additive & Equipment
- Create and update standard documentation ensuring this is available for all products
- Work with setting department to ensure installation & start up of moulds in accordance with all good practices and to hand to production in optimum performance status
- Carry out all qualification requirements for each product
- Deliver hard copies of processing, set up, tooling, service, robot set

Problem Solving:
To investigate and diagnose problems, if production setters are unable to rectify, relating to the moulding process that are performing below the required level. Following interventions, update a database of knowledge to allow setters to remedy faults using this information.
Developing People and Processes:
Current moulds and practices. All processes in conjunction with other departments and through the use of various moulding systems and techniques to increase OEE and reduce labour requirements. Processes including complex tooling and automation processes, using a variety of materials, core sequences, twin shot moulding, In-Mould-labelling.
Daily Activities:
- Promote and encourage safe working practices
- Attend the morning technical team meeting & Cross team meetings
- Lead trials and be responsible for the full trial process for projects assigned
- Work with the toolroom, engineering & quality on issues when solution is required
- Assist the Technical Manager and Produce SOP documentation used to train Process related technologies that are introduced
- Liaise with other departments to ensure a swift resolution of day to day problems
- Monitor reported issues to ensure timely close out of actions
- Utilise training skills to work in conjunction with site managers to increase the skill level of process related
Reports & Customer Discussions:
Liaise with relevant personnel and produce reports as required on projects, trials, improvement initiatives, etc. Ensure that company policy on such matters as health and safety, housekeeping, etc. are followed at all times.
Experience And Qualifications Required:
- Ideally served a recognised Engineering or Processing apprenticeship
- Injection moulding qualification equivalent to IMT 3 or above
- Multi skilling qualification advantageous
- Knowledge and experience of various plastics processes. Gas Assist & Overmoulding
- Good knowledge of modern injection moulding machinery, robotics, tooling, finishing equipment, printing, assembling
- Good knowledge of different plastic materials
- Good knowledge of modern automation equipment
