iPeople SC Solutions is currently recruiting for Senior Youth Worker and Youth Worker who are passionate individuals with a keen interest to work with and inspire young people aged 11 to 19 (up to 25 with SEND), making a difference in their lives, supporting them to have a voice & influence on services and to engage in positive activities within a universal open access youth setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the planning and delivery of projects focused on health, bullying, transitions, sexuality/gender, crime, gangs, or drugs, including community and social events, informal educational programmes, and youth recreational activities such as sports, arts, and drama.
  • Deliver, as part of a team, year‑round universal and targeted youth activities and programmes across the borough using a variety of methods to enable formal and informal learning and personal and social development for children and young people aged 11+ up to 25 with SEND.
  • Work with the team lead to support and assist in administrative tasks, including providing information verbatim or in writing, reporting on the work, supporting planning and delivery, and ensuring programmes are published timely and delivered to a high standard.
  • Achieve delivery of any apportioned performance targets related to youth activity and programmes, collate data and input it onto the service MIS database, and prepare statistical reports to verify and evidence delivery and quality of work.
  • Provide individual and group support to young people through assessment of needs, 1:1 or group support, development and monitoring of individual learning plans, mentoring, coaching, and collaborative partnership with other agencies to deliver interventions and provide feedback.
  • For UAB youth workers only: Deliver physical and adventurous activities such as indoor rock climbing, canoeing, cycling, and BMX.

  • Communication skills – presentation, verbal & written.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of young people’s current issues, challenges and needs.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • ‘Can‑do’ attitude; thorough attention to detail.
  • Active listening and a non‑judgemental approach.
  • Objectivity, impartiality and accountability.
  • Technological knowledge – IT, Microsoft suite, databases.
  • Collaboration with young people, professionals, stakeholders and the community.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Level 1/2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Youth Support Work or a related field such as Sports, Teaching or Youth Justice.
  • Applicants currently undertaking a formal qualification to work with young people are welcome to apply.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with young people.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Willingness to be flexible and travel in and around the borough.

Contractual Hours

We are looking for staff who can work flexibly to meet our service delivery needs. Preferred hours or patterns include 12:00pm – 8:00pm.
