iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting Community Library Officers to work for our client in Camden and surrounding areas. The Community Library Officer is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of the library service at the branch level to provide a high-quality service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide a high level of customer care, welcoming customers and volunteers to the library, introducing them to the range of services available, joining new members, carrying out reception and circulation desk duties and resolving any queries and complaints quickly in accordance with library regulations.
- Assist the public with enquiries for information and provide user education and support, using both electronic and paper-based resources; including assisting with access to council services.
- Operate all ICT facilities, equipment and services in the library and assist customers in the use of public ICT.
- Ensure that equipment is working and any faults are reported following corporate procedures.
- Participate in the delivery of Camden's community and digital library development. This involves supporting the development and delivery of a local community library business plan in collaboration with local residents and partners.
- Work with children and families including baby bounce, under 5s and reading activities with children of all ages.
- Build and maintain local partnerships with voluntary and community groups, businesses, schools and colleges, tenants and residents' associations to ensure ongoing co-design of library services.
- Plan and deliver promotional events including activities for the Under 5's, children and teenagers, adult reading groups, IT Taster Sessions etc.
- Promote the services of the library at events outside of the library building.
- Support members of the public with self-initiating community and social projects and activities in the library and work with colleagues from across the council including Arts Development and events to put cultural events in the library.
- Organise and deliver outreach activities to promote the library beyond the current user group, e.g. providing reader development workshops with schools, youth clubs and community groups in community settings outside the library building.
- Promote and market activities and events in the library in collaboration with the Library Manager and Communications team using a range of communication tools e.g. printed and digital posters for the library, web publishing promoting on social media.
- Assist library users in the use of self-service technology e.g. kiosks, public computers, printers, scanners and other digital provision.
- Ensure compliance with Library Rules and Regulations and Bye-Laws by users of the service while maintaining good public relations.
- Undertake duty management and any relief duties at any library or service point as required.
Requirements
- Experience of working in a library focused setting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve issues at pace.
- Maintain a safe working environment for staff, volunteers and the public; including ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
