Support Worker – Day Centre – Walthamstow

iPeople SC Solutionsis currently recruiting Support Workers to work at a Day Centre for Adults with autism and learning disabilities in Walthamstow and the surrounding areas.

The successful post holder willprovide direct support to service users with a range of complex needs.

The successful post holder will alsoprovide high quality and innovative person centred day opportunities to service users with a range of complex needs in buildings and in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting service userswith learning disabilities and complex needsin a day centre.
  • Assist with personal care and manual handling.
  • To ensure person centred care is provided, care plans are followed and updated and CQC standards are met.
  • As a Support Worker, you will encourage service users to make their own informed decisions to enhance their opportunity to develop confidence and independence.
  • Encouraging individuals to partake in social and community events, sport such as bowling, hobbies, day trips, support in going to the beach, cinema, theatre, meals in restaurants, pubs and social evenings.
  • Working with people with complex needs and/or behaviour that may challenge the service, that enables community participation.
  • Liaise with colleagues and other agencies to support service users with a range of complex needs and their families/carers
  • Monitor and report on service users’ circumstances.
  • Carry out all duties with an awareness and understanding of the Safeguarding requirements within own area of responsibility.
  • Receive, keep secure, reconcile and handle money appropriately. When needed issue receipts.

Working Hours:Mon-Fri 9.00am-3.30pm.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Relevant care qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, QCF or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working in a day centre is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • ICT skills including use of Microsoft applications.
  • Proven ability to manage behaviour that may challenge services.
  • Proven ability to encourage and support connections and networks of service users and the local community.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
