iPeople SC Solutions is currently recruiting for a Principal Financial Accountant to work for our client based in Kensington and Chelsea and surrounding areas.
The successful post holder will handle a range of financial accounting, reconciliation, and reporting responsibilities in areas of Financial Reporting and Controls.
The successful post holder will lead the closing of the client’s annual accounts by internal and statutory deadlines and ensure a successful audit in their areas of responsibility.
Duties & Responsibilities (not exhaustive):
- Monitor balances on AR, AP, Payroll, and GL codes against SAP reports, identify, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Review reconciliation submissions from finance teams to ensure accuracy and proper supporting documentation, raising standards as needed.
- Implement CIPFA FM Code requirements, including quarterly reporting of key balance sheet items to the Leadership Team.
- Produce and present statistical performance reports on balance sheet reconciliations at FMT and FOG, monitoring improvements over time.
- Train staff on reconciliation processes and year-end schedules to ensure all balances are justified and correctly accounted for.
- Prepare the year-end Balance Sheet with detailed analysis of variances and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile monthly business rates and council tax cash income and refunds between SAP and Civica, supporting the Financial Management Collection Fund.
- Complete various governmental and non-governmental returns, including WGA, RO, QRO, CR, CO, and ad hoc reports.
Requirements:
- CCAB Qualified Accountant
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and practices
- Strong understanding of the council’s budget processes and financial regulations
Working hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday
