iPeople SC Solutions is currently recruiting for a Principal Financial Accountant to work for our client based in Kensington and Chelsea and surrounding areas. The successful post holder will cover a range of financial accounting, reconciliation and reporting responsibilities in any of the following areas of Financial Reporting and Controls. The successful post holder will lead on closing the client’s annual accounts by internal and statutory deadlines and achieving a successful audit in areas of assigned responsibility.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor balances on AR, AP, Payroll and holding GL codes against reports from SAP, identify and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
- Critically review reconciliation submissions from service finance teams to ensure these are accurate and supported by good quality working papers, raising standards with individuals and teams as necessary.
- Implement requirements of the CIPFA FM Code including quarterly reporting of key balance sheet items to Leadership Team.
- Produce and present statistical performance monitoring for balance sheet reconciliations at FMT and FOG, monitoring improvements between report dates.
- Provide training on the reconciliation process and completion of year-end schedules to ensure all balances are justified and correct accounting treatment has been used.
- Produce the client’s year-end Balance Sheet, fully supported down to code combination level with analytical review of all variances.
- Support the Financial Management Collection Fund Lead by reconciling monthly business rates and council tax cash income and refunds between SAP and Civica.
- Complete statistical and other governmental and non-governmental returns, including WGA, RO, QRO, CR, CO and ad hoc returns.
Requirements:
- CCAB Qualified Accountant
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, policies and practices
- Extensive knowledge of the council’s budget processes and requirements
- Knowledge of the council’s own financial framework including financial regulations, budget and closing of accounts guidelines
Working hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday
