iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting a Housing Needs Officer to work for our client based in Colindale, Greater London. Our client is seeking a Housing Needs Officer for their Rough Sleepers Team. We have an in‑house Rough Sleeping Team within the Housing Options Service who work to reduce the numbers of people rough sleeping on the streets of the council.

Our Rough Sleeping Team have a specialist role within our department and we have committed to tackling homelessness and rough sleeping within the borough. We have seen an increase in the number of rough sleepers accessing our services and what works is having a separate pathway to assess our rough sleepers who are often vulnerable with a multitude of complex health issues and substance abuse.

As a result, we are looking to recruit a Housing Needs Officer to sit within the team who will assess any/all rough sleepers approaching the service under the relevant Housing Legislation. Ideally, we would want someone who has a history of working with this cohort and understands the issues faced by them; however, this isn’t essential but having worked in a homeless service assessing clients is.

Currently, we are hybrid working with an expectation of being in the office a minimum of two days per week, perhaps more if they are required to attend relevant sites. This is not flexible. The days in the office we can be flexible with and will be agreed with their line manager.

Additionally, we have opened a hub for rough sleepers in the borough. This cohort can be difficult to engage with and often lack access to technology. It is therefore anticipated that the successful candidate may be required to work from this hub if there is a need to / it is easier from an assessment perspective.
