iPeople SC Solutions is currently recruiting for Library Officers to work for our client based in Hackney and surrounding areas. The successful post holder will act as the first point of contact for library customers and facilitate their effective use of the library service. The postholder will have trained skills in using the databases and ICT systems to ensure accuracy of customer and service management information, provide information to customers and have knowledge of how to refer to other relevant services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining cash records
  • Answering enquiries
  • Opening and closing the libraries and carrying out routine library duties such as shelving and tidying up.
  • Engage residents with the Universal Library outcomes of the library service including developing and delivering events and activities to encourage increased participation.
  • To supervise the operation of the library on a daily basis and to take charge when required and provide a high level of customer satisfaction for the library service.
  • To champion the use of self-service technology and to encourage customers to use this facility wherever possible.
  • To ensure the library environment is welcoming, vibrant and a safe place to visit.
  • To provide ICT support, coaching and guidance to customers in basic computer usage and use of common Microsoft packages.
  • To take responsibility for promoting services available in the library including planning, arranging and delivering events, activities, storytimes, reading groups, class visits and promotions.

Requirements

  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Enhanced DBS Check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages.
