OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff; organising and monitoring work process on a day to day basis of their specific area.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensuring the completion of any tasks that are assigned to the team by the department Manager.
- Ensuring team members complete the tasks that have been assigned to them.
- Supporting the production team by assisting in ensuring machines continue to produce parts.
- Resolution of technical and process related issues in association with department Manager.
- Identification and implementation of cost reduction strategies, new production processes/technologies and methods for continuous improvement.
- Monitoring time that work is issued and completed.
- Monitoring and planning of resources to ensure that they are appropriate to the workload.
- Ensuring that all team members complete timesheets in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Monitoring the attendance, quality and timekeeping of all team members, and address accordingly.
- Approving and managing staff holidays to minimise the disruption to the team.
- Delegating tasks to team members and ensuring that all work produced is carried out in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Play an active role in the recruitment and selection process for the team.
- Attend first level disciplinaries and grievances.
- Complete all performance reviews for the team.
- Assessing the skills and performance levels of all team members and identifying/carrying out additional training as necessary.
- Ensuring that team members operate in accordance with quality procedures.
- Mentor apprentices on shop floor on manual machining techniques and safe working processes.
- To be responsible for the safe working of all team members and ensuring the adherence to all Company H&S policies.
- To ensure all Company rules and regulations are met and initiate appropriate corrective action and/or the Company disciplinary procedures when required.
- Responsible for making sure an excellent standard of housekeeping is maintained.
- Complete corrective actions on time.
- To carry out any other task where reasonable and relevant, when required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience within the Aerospace or Manufacturing industry.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment.
- Ability to work using Metric and Imperial.
- Computer literate and methodical.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
- Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent).
- Programming training.
- Experience with CNC programming, setting and operating.
- Experience with CAD/CAM Offline Programming in EDGECAM.
- Ability to edit programs using Fanuc, Mazak or Sinumerik controls.
