We are establishing a next-generation international energy trading platform focused exclusively on commercial trading excellence across oil, gas, LNG, refined products, and derivatives. This role is strictly commercial. It is not an operational, logistics, shipping, back-office, or infrastructure position. As Vice President Trading, you will be a senior commercial leader responsible for originating, structuring, executing, and managing physical and derivative trading activity, directly contributing to P&L generation and portfolio awareness across global energy markets. This position is designed only for proven traders with a strong personal trading record and deep market credibility.
Core Trading Responsibilities
- Pure Commercial Trading Leadership
- Lead and execute physical trading across: LNG, Light Ends, Middle Distillates, Heavy Ends.
- Trade and manage derivative instruments to support outright trading strategies, hedging, and portfolio optimization.
- Originate and negotiate spot, term, and structured trading transactions with producers, refiners, utilities, traders, and end-users.
- Own deal economics, pricing structures, and market positioning.
- Market & P&L Ownership
- Take direct responsibility for commercial performance, margins, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Develop trading strategies based on market structure, arbitrage flows, and regional dislocations.
- Work closely with risk, analytics, and management to ensure disciplined risk-taking aligned with mandate.
- Commercial Leadership
- Act as a senior commercial counterpart to global trading houses, NOCs, and majors.
- Support the build-out of trading strategies, books, and market access.
- Mentor and guide traders as the platform scales.
Candidate Profile – Non-Negotiable
This role is only suitable for candidates with proven, hands-on trading experience.
Mandatory Experience
- 10+ years of direct commercial trading experience in oil, gas, LNG, refined products.
- Demonstrated track record as a front-office trader with P&L responsibility.
- Experience trading both physical barrels and derivatives.
- Background from global trading houses, energy super-majors, or national oil companies with active trading desks.
Explicitly Not a Fit If
- Background primarily in operations, logistics, shipping, scheduling, or infrastructure.
- Managed traders but did not trade yourself.
- Worked adjacent to trading without owning deals or P&L.
Core Capabilities
- Strong commercial judgment and deal-making instincts.
- Deep understanding of market structures, pricing mechanisms, and risk.
- Credibility with senior traders and counterparties.
