Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities
- Clinical Care & Patient Support:
- Direct Care: provide high-quality care tailored to individual needs, ensuring patients are prepared for examinations while respecting cultural differences, privacy, and dignity.
- Clinical Procedures: undertake essential tasks including cannulation for patients undergoing CT and MR scans.
- Diagnostics: produce high-quality 12-lead ECGs and perform clinical observations (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and report any adverse signs to senior staff.
- Mobility & Comfort: assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, and safely moving on and off examination tables. Escort and transport patients within the department, acting as a chaperone when required.
- Communication: act as a liaison between patients and the clinical team; listen to patient concerns, provide reassurance, and ensure all communication is handled with strict confidentiality.
- Procedure Preparation: set up medical trolleys for sterile procedures and ensure efficient clearing/disinfection afterward.
- Infection Control: maintain rigorous hygiene standards by cleaning scanners and clinical areas daily, and performing deep cleans following contact with infectious patients.
- IT & Administration: utilise departmental IT systems, including the Computerised Radiology Information System (CRIS), to record physiological readings and manage patient data.
- Stock Management: monitor and replenish clinical stock levels to ensure the department remains fully operational.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to radiographic protocols and policies as required under ionising radiation regulations, complying with IR(ME)R and IRR standards.
- MR Safety: strictly follow local MR safety rules and regulations to ensure the safety of patients and staff within the magnetic field environment.
- Clinical Governance & Quality Health & Safety: comply with all Trust Health & Safety policies, including the reporting of accidents, incidents, or potential hazards.
- Mandatory Training: attend all specified mandatory training sessions and e-learning modules, maintaining compliance throughout your employment.
- Equity & Diversity: carry out duties while respecting the diverse cultural beliefs and customs of both patients and colleagues.
- In-Service Growth: actively participate in the departmental in-service training programme and attend relevant external courses as agreed with management.
- Personal Development: engage in regular appraisal sessions to identify growth opportunities and disseminate new knowledge to the wider team.
- Service Evolution: participate in the modernisation of Radiology services and rotate through various areas of the Radiology department as required.
