We currently have opportunities for full-time staff nurses in our state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, which consists of 18 Post Operative Critical Care beds and 12 Intensive Care beds. We are looking for individuals committed to high-quality, patient-centred care in a dynamic environment. Applicants must be fully registered with the National Health Service (NMC) and have critical care experience, with effective communication, initiative, drive, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical: Determine nursing priorities, plan patient care, inform team leaders of changes, recognise and respond to urgent situations, maintain nursing records in line with NMC and Trust guidelines, practice efficient nursing services, promote safety and therapeutic environment, supervise and demonstrate procedures, maintain confidentiality, contribute to clinical quality initiatives, involve patients/carers, maintain evidence-based knowledge for Level 2/3 care, communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, support safe drug administration, respond efficiently to emergencies.
- Managerial / Leadership: Coordinate and manage own workload, supervise others, support education and development of staff, practise efficient use of resources, manage workload without supervision, monitor health and safety, liaise with management team for continuity of care, delegate responsibilities appropriately, maintain personal development plans, report incidents, supervise junior staff, ensure equipment safety, maintain cleanliness and supplies.
- Organisational: Utilise clinical supervision and peer support, participate in orientation and supervision of junior staff, promote learning environment, engage in ward teaching programmes, lead specialised functions (e.g. Link Nurse, Health Promotion Lead), maintain professional knowledge, participate in research, audit and development, mentor and assess nurses in training, maintain professional development records.
- Professional: Attend mandatory training, maintain NMC registration, act in accordance with NMC and Trust code of conduct, adhere to Trust policies, undertake clinical supervision, maintain skills, keep professional portfolio, implement audit findings, participate in patient and public involvement, uphold equality and diversity.
- Quality: Manage safe department activities, liaise with Trust advisers, implement safety policies, assess risks, conduct inspections, report accidents, communicate safety actions.
