We are working with a highly regarded intellectual property practice seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join its busy and supportive patents team. The Role
Working closely with attorneys and technical assistants, you will provide comprehensive administrative and case management support across a varied patent portfolio. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative and case management support to attorneys and technical assistants.
- Managing and maintaining the case management system to ensure all official, client and internal deadlines are met.
- Preparing and checking documentation for filing patent applications with the EPO, UKIPO and via overseas associates.
- Preparing standard correspondence to meet general and client-specific requirements.
- Drafting correspondence to clients, official bodies and overseas patent attorneys relating to paralegal matters.
- Handling recordal work, including changes in ownership such as assignments, mergers and licences relating to patents and designs.
- Ensuring timely billing of cases and monitoring outstanding costs within your allocated caseload.
- Preparing patent portfolio reports and status updates as required.
- Using client systems and software to receive instructions, provide reporting and submit invoices.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in patent administration or as a Patent Paralegal.
- The CIPA Patent Administrators Certificate (desirable).
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a willingness to support changing business needs.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines effectively.
- The confidence and maturity to take ownership of your work and responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at Grade C/4 or above.
- A minimum of two A-Levels (or equivalent). A degree would be advantageous but is not essential.
