Practice Lead / Technical Director (Modern Workplace & Business IT) – Player-Manager Location: Camberley (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)

We’re seeking a player-manager Technical Director to lead the technical direction and delivery for a high-performing Managed Services branch (£5m+ annual turnover). This is a hybrid role where you’ll be hands-on, lead projects, and manage a small technical team.

Role Breakdown:

  • 50% Hands-on consultancy and technical delivery across Microsoft Modern Workplace technologies (M365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Endpoint Management, Security & Compliance, Windows 365).
  • 40% Project leadership, overseeing solution architecture, delivery lifecycle, and client engagements.
  • 10% People management, mentoring and managing a team of three technical consultants to ensure quality, growth, and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and deliver the branch’s technical strategy in alignment with wider business goals.
  • Lead technical pre-sales, solution design, and client presentations.
  • Manage escalations and ensure smooth transitions to business-as-usual.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and account teams to identify new service opportunities.
  • Maintain documentation, governance, and quality standards.
  • Stay current with Microsoft product roadmaps and certifications to drive innovation.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years in a senior technical role within an MSP or consultancy, ideally with player-manager experience.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Modern Workplace technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage a small technical team.
  • Commercially aware with strong pre-sales skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (MS-700, MS-102, AZ-104, SC-300, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Partner ecosystem and service delivery frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, Agile, or PRINCE2 methodologies.
