Server and Security Engineer

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Server and Security Engineer to manage and secure IT infrastructure for our client in the MSP Space. This role requires expertise in server management and cybersecurity to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance. You will play a key role in problem-solving, collaborating across teams, and implementing security improvements to deliver a seamless IT experience.

Key Responsibilities

Server Management:

  • Manage and optimise server environments, including on-premises and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Conduct system updates, backups, and patch management.
  • Troubleshoot server issues to minimise downtime.

Cybersecurity:

  • Implement and maintain security controls such as firewalls, IDS, and antivirus solutions.
  • Perform Firewall config, support and admin – Fortinet, Watchguard
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and apply security updates.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents, performing root cause analysis and preventative measures.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to address issues and implement improvements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of server configurations and security protocols.
  • Produce regular reports and suggest infrastructure and security enhancements.

Incident and Change Management:

  • Lead response efforts during major server or security incidents.
  • Support server migrations, upgrades, and other infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in server administration and cybersecurity within IT/MSP environments.
  • Strong knowledge of server technologies (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Familiarity with ITIL standards and hybrid IT environments.
  • Proficiency with security tools and protocols.
  • Certifications such as Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP are advantageous.
