We’re supporting a growing technology services organisation in the search for a Head of Network Services to lead and evolve its network engineering capability. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for the strategy, design standards, operational performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise network services across complex customer environments.
The successful candidate will lead a team of network engineers and architects while working closely with project delivery, cloud services, and technical leadership teams to ensure network solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and delivered predictably. This role would suit someone with a strong background in enterprise networking who enjoys balancing technical leadership, operational improvement, people development, and delivery oversight.
The Role
- Owning the network technical strategy, standards, and roadmap
- Providing technical leadership across enterprise, cloud-integrated, and operational technology (OT) network environments
- Acting as the senior escalation point and technical authority for network design decisions
- Leading and developing a team of Network Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Architects
- Driving consistency, standardisation, and operational maturity across network services
- Supporting project delivery teams with scoping, technical governance, and risk management
- Improving monitoring, documentation, supportability, and operational resilience
- Working cross-functionally with cloud, projects, and PMO teams to improve delivery predictability
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience leading enterprise network services or network engineering teams
- A solid technical background across LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, and network security
- Experience working within complex infrastructure, managed services, or technical delivery environments
- Strong understanding of operational supportability, resilience, and service ownership
- Experience improving standards, governance, and technical consistency
- The ability to lead senior technical stakeholders while remaining hands-on enough to challenge designs when needed
- A collaborative, calm, and structured leadership style
Desirable Experience
- Backgrounds that would align well include: Managed Services / MSP, Enterprise infrastructure services, Cisco or multi-vendor networking environments, Cloud-integrated networking, OT / industrial networking environments, Technical operations or engineering leadership roles
