As a Senior Data Engineer for Customer & Commercial Intelligence located in Johnston, IA, Moline, IL or Remote at manager’s discretion, you will:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain data pipelines, data products, analytics solutions, and AI capabilities that optimize performance, storage, compute consumption, and token utilization while effectively managing cost.
  • Build contextual data layers and supporting infrastructure using engineering practices for reliable delivery.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Marketing, Finance, and Commerce teams.
  • Define development requirements and validation criteria.

This requisition is intended to fill two Senior Data Engineer openings within Customer & Commercial Intelligence. Successful candidates may be placed on either the Activation & Utilization team or the CCI Enablement team based on business needs, experience, and areas of interest.

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of work experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related field in delivering scalable and reliable data solutions leveraging cloud technologies.
  • 3 or more years of experience in analytics/data platforms and/or technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Python, or Java as well as CI/CD tools particularly Databricks and GitHub Actions).
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data models to support data products and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate information seamlessly between technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-starting and eager to lead through ambiguous situations or topics.
  • Detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to understand and manipulate complex systems.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience working with tech stack equipped machine and customer data (See & Spray, Harvest Automation, Premium Precision, Autonomous Tillage, etc.).
  • Cross-domain experience within varied business areas such as John Deere Financial, ISG, Engineering, Customer Success, Marketing, or something similar.
  • Experience building for and supporting AI based solutions.
  • API experience.
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer.

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or analytics related discipline, or equivalent work experience in an analytics role demonstrating proficiency in the required skills.
