Our client is a global multi-energy company operating large-scale refining and petrochemical facilities. It transforms crude oil into fuels and essential industrial products through highly integrated and technologically advanced operations. Projects:

  • The Associated Gas Upstream Project Phase 1: Enhance Ratawi Oil Field production thanks to infrastructures upgrade and new export pipeline (AGUP1), in addition to a gas export and process facilities (AG25).
  • The Associated Gas Upstream Project Phase 2: Enhance Ratawi Oil Field production to 210 kbpd with new CPF (CPF2) and additional development wells (AGUP2).
  • The Gas Midstream Project - GMP: Valorize the gas from Ratawi, Majoon and Al Qurna West-2 (Phase I) Oil Fields.
  • The Common Seawater Supply Project - CSSP: Major water-injection project that will help the long-term production of several fields of South Iraq.
  • The Solar Power Plant - SPP: major solar project (PV plant with 1250 GW DC) which will allow to produce power (1000 GW AC) to be injected into the grid.

AGUP Phase 2 specifics: AGUP Phase 2 is the major full field development. It involves drilling around 221 wells, feeding a newly built CPF (CPF2), at clients standards, with a capacity of 210 kbopd. Oil will flow respectively at 60 to 80 kbopd from Yamama (100 MMscfd) and 150 to 130 kbopd from LP reservoirs (30 MMscfd). AGUP2 Project will be developed with the objective to maximize economical results, with a particular focus on the CAPEX, while maintaining the technical quality of the installations, with high H3SE requirements and focus. The project development includes several interfaces with other projects (mainly AGUP Ph1, GMP and CSSP) which shall be managed in an optimized and agile manner. The country’s context is complex due to several factors and risks to be mitigated all through the project. Particular attention will be paid to safety culture enhancement and to the local content that will be a key factor in the project’s success.

Job Description: To adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior about H3SE rules and requirements and ensure their implementation within his/her scope of responsibility. The service holder is in charge within the Central Processing Facility (CPF2) Package, under the CPF2 Engineering Manager, of all activities associated. The service holder ensures during Detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction phases that all activities, deliverables and documents (internal and external) related to the disciplines he/she is in charge are timely issued, executed and fit for purpose.

  • The service holder ensures Contractor, Subcontractors and Suppliers’ deliverables and documents are compliant with applicable codes, standards, Project specifications and best engineering practices related to his/her disciplines.
  • Within CPF2 Package, the service holder is the Contractor’s focal point for all matters related to the disciplines and subjects he/she oversees.
  • The service holder participates in the follow-up and supervision of qualifications, audits, testing, fabrication and construction activities, at Contractor, Subcontractors and Suppliers workshops or worksites, related to his/her discipline, directly with the support Package Quality Team.
  • The service holder will participate in the review and resolution of any discipline-related Technical Query, Deviation Requests, CAR and NCR occurring during Detail Engineering and Execution phases.
  • The service holder will actively identify the main risks and opportunities related to the disciplines he/she oversees and contribute to their follow-up in line with Project objectives.
  • The service holder actively liaises with other specialists of the CPF2 Package to ensure consistency of the work, in particular with the CPF2 Welding Specialist.
  • The service holder also liaises with Company HO discipline specialists as necessary.

Other key activities: To adhere to Project H3SE, ensure HSSEQ issues are handled in all the disciplines-related technical documents and fabrication/construction activities. To ensure safe working practices; to be informed of project specifications and standards; to issue and maintain necessary technical documentation; to ensure contractor scope; to liaise with contractor; to review progress; to supervise Detailed Engineering; to raise comments; to ensure confidentiality; to gather lessons learnt. To assist Company Representatives in supervision of discipline-related activities at workshops and fabrication sites, including witnesses of welding qualifications, mechanical/corrosion testing, materials management, and special processes. To assess and follow-up Contractor welding performance and propose improvements; to ensure confidentiality of all discipline-related documentation; to contribute to project close-out.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years in Oil and Gas projects; experience with international Engineering EPC Contractors on projects of similar scale; 10 years of experience as Welding Engineer for Oil & gas Projects.
  • Knowledge of design and construction codes for piping (ASME B31.3), structural (AWS D1.1), pressure vessels (ASME BPVC).
  • International Welding Engineer diploma (IIW, EWF, ESSA) (essential).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (material/metallurgical, mechanical engineering or related field).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Soft skills: strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, ability to lead technical meetings with Contractors/Vendors, cost-conscious, process-improvement mindset, autonomous and proactive.
