We are recruiting for an independent member of our Policy and Standards Committee.

The Policy and Standards Committee supports the work of our Board of Trustees.

The committee\’s role is to make sure that IOSH aligns with national and global developments, sector policy and standards. It supports the Board with strategy and sets out IOSH\’s values, culture and behaviours to help deliver this.

Who can apply?

This vacancy is for an independent committee member. You cannot be an IOSH member.

We are looking for someone with these skills and experience.

  • Experience of working in the education sector with specialist expertise and ability to scrutinise regulation and policies for this area.
  • Currently working in, or have previously worked in, vocational, further or higher education, or professional qualifications (not necessarily health and safety subject area as this could create conflicts of interest).
  • Understanding of UK education frameworks and fit with other countries’ qualifications and credit frameworks.
  • Experience and understanding of developing professional guidance.
  • Understanding of the role of competencies in designing professional standards.
  • Experience analysing regulations and policies.
  • Understanding of UK membership standards.

What’s involved?

You’ll need to attend four virtual meetings per year. It may be necessary on occasion to hold additional meetings. You’ll also need to spend some time reading and reviewing papers between meetings.

Appointments are for a two or three-year term. Terms of office are staggered for continuity.

The role is unpaid, however reasonable expenses will be paid.
