IOSH Professional Qualifications
IOSH Professional Qualifications are high quality occupational qualifications that prepare candidates for roles within the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession. They require candidates to complete scenario-based examinations, to assess their skills against a range of assessment criteria.
Examiners are external occupational safety and health (OSH) subject matter experts who mark candidate’s responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to guidance and examination procedures.
This is a self-employed consultant role with the opportunity to examine during the IOSH examination windows which occur four times a year. Allocations of marking are not guaranteed and depend on the volume of candidates in any one examination window.
Responsibilities of the IOSH Examiner
- Attend training/standardisation meetings to ensure best practice is adhered to when marking responses
- Mark written responses accurately and consistently to the standard set, on the IOSH AO e-assessment platform Surpass
- Submit samples for standardisation and moderation to the Principal Examiner at designated times
- Ensure timescales for marking are adhered to
- Ensure all administration is completed as specified.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education and Training
- Teaching/Training or assessment experience in OSH at the relevant level
- High level of recent, relevant subject knowledge, in order to apply the mark scheme
Skills and Qualities
- Have access to a secure PC with firewall, up to date anti-virus software, private broadband access and a personal secure email account
- Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to follow procedures accurately and reliably.
- Be able to work to fixed timescales
- Demonstrate the IOSH values of One IOSH, Excellence, Integrity and Flexibility
