Location: Shrewsbury

Rate: 450 per day (PAYE)

End Date: Saturday, 31 May 2025

Working Hours: 08:00 – 17:00

About The Role

Carbon60 is recruiting for a Site Construction Safety Manager to oversee health and safety compliance on a major construction project in Shrewsbury. Working on behalf of the client, the successful candidate will ensure that CDM Principal Contractor (PC) duties are fulfilled throughout the PET project construction phase.

This role requires a proactive safety professional with a strong understanding of CDM regulations, risk management, and contractor coordination to maintain the highest safety standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with CDM regulations and other relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Identify potential hazards, implement preventative measures, and investigate incidents to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Oversee contractor safety compliance, ensuring all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are in order before site attendance.
  • Issue site permits and conduct full or dynamic risk assessments as required.
  • Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aware of safety procedures.
  • Monitor site activities on a daily basis, enforcing safety best practices.
  • Attend project meetings to ensure safety is fully integrated into site operations.
  • Provide site supervision cover for at least one weekend in three as part of a site rota.

Experience & Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) in health and safety.
  • First Aid trained (current certification required).
  • Temporary Works Coordinator trained.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and safety management in a construction environment.
  • Experience liaising with contractors and ensuring compliance with RAMS.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to enforce safety standards across a multi–contractor site.
