Fasthosts is looking for a sharp, commercially minded Legal Counsel who thrives at the intersection of law, technology and business strategy. At Fasthosts and the wider IONOS Group, you’ll be the go‑to partner helping teams launch products, close deals and navigate the fast‑moving world of cloud, hosting and digital services — all while keeping us compliant and ahead of the curve. If you enjoy solving complex problems, influencing decision‑making and working in a fast‑moving digital environment, this is a role where you can make a real impact.
What will you be doing?
- Drive commercial success by drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Guide product and marketing teams with clear, practical advice on launches, marketing, advertising, consumer law, IP, competition and information security.
- Support disputes including customer issues, IP/takedown requests, defamation/abuse and domain matters (UDRP/DRS).
- Champion data protection with hands‑on GDPR/UK DPA support.
- Strengthen compliance culture through training, risk assessments and guidance.
- Engage with regulators (ICO, ASA) and help shape our responses.
- Support governance across intercompany agreements and corporate housekeeping.
- Influence strategic initiatives like AI governance, NIS2 readiness and security certifications.
What experience do you need under your belt?
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent, with approx. 2–6 years’ PQE or solid in‑house experience.
- Strong commercial contracting skills, bonus points if this includes tech, SaaS, cloud and data processing.
- Confident understanding of GDPR/UK DPA and hands‑on privacy operations.
- Experience supporting disputes, IP/abuse issues and customer claims.
- Working knowledge of consumer, advertising/ASA and IP law for online services.
- Clear, practical communicator who can turn legal complexity into business‑ready advice.
- A positive mindset around Artificial intelligence, with experience supporting/advising on AI‑related legal, regulatory or governance issues.
