About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Groundworker to carry out specialist excavation, installation, and reinstatement works for garden drainage systems. The role is based in Manchester with work carried out across the North West, Staffordshire, and West Yorkshire. You will primarily be working within social housing environments, delivering high-quality drainage installations while maintaining safe working practices and professional standards within occupied residential properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out excavation works for garden drainage installations in accordance with approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), permits, and site procedures.
  • Install soakaways, French drains, land drains, and surface channel drainage systems in line with specifications and approved designs.
  • Set out and achieve correct levels, gradients, and falls to ensure effective surface water management.
  • Prepare sub-bases, bedding materials, pipe runs, drainage stone, and geotextile membranes to required standards.
  • Complete reinstatement works including turfing, paving, concreting, compaction, backfilling, and surface finishing to a clean and professional standard.
  • Safely operate hand tools and small plant, completing required checks on vehicles, plant, tools, and PPE and reporting any defects.
  • Maintain safe excavation practices, including trench stability, spoil management, edge protection, safe access and egress, and protection of underground services.
  • Accurately complete digital job records, including site photographs, installation details, material usage, and any issues encountered.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, clients, and colleagues, ensuring minimal disruption when working within residential properties.
  • Record working hours, travel, and job activity in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of site presentation, safety, and professionalism at all times.
