As an early-stage employee, you will play a key role in developing the foundational technologies and capabilities that will power the next generation of electric vehicles.

As part of the procurement team, you will help bring to life the capabilities to meet the demands of a new tier one supplier for the Electrified application market. This includes establishing a new supply chain that can support the growing demand from prototype to series production for our markets including automotive.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the build/validation of prototype and pre-production battery modules and packs, following detailed instructions, diagrams, and safety protocols.
  • Use various tools and equipment such as Cobots, laser welders, spot welders, soldering irons, and torque wrenches to assemble battery packs.
  • Support virtual series to ensure parts/processes are designed for assembly, identify potential improvements/concerns.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to create preliminary work instructions and inspection instructions.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of assembled battery packs to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Document assembly processes and maintain accurate records of production including tracking of build units.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow company policies and industry regulations related to battery handling, storage, and assembly.
  • Validate tooling & jigs to ensure functionality/fit for purpose.
  • Identify ergonomic, risk assessments, Co,S,H&H Health & Safety concerns including solutions.
  • DFA/PFMEA support.
  • Generate/update relevant product reports/inspection reports.

Skills and Experience:

  • Good level of GCSEs, A Level, BTEC ideally in STEM subjects.
  • 2+ years of experience of battery modules/packs/Electronics or complex manufacturing assembly would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of HV/Electronics, wiring, and the use of assembly tools and equipment would be desirable.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Use of Lean manufacturing and problem-solving techniques.
  • Drive and self-motivation to achieve goals and challenge obstacles.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, confidence, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Flexibility (i.e. working hours/shifts at short notice).
  • Computer literacy and good presentation skills.
  • Have good product knowledge.
  • Comfortable working with small components and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Valid UK driving licence or other suitable arrangements for business travel.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required by the role.
