Control Systems Engineer

Location: Bathgate (transitioning to Eurocentral, Motherwell in late 2025)

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a technical team where you’ll take end-to-end ownership of control systems projects—from concept development through to testing and commissioning. IBS is expanding its operations and moving into OEM manufacturing, and you’ll play a key role in the development of new machines as the company pivots its focus. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take on increasing responsibility and contribute to innovative solutions.

As the company transitions to a new facility atEurocentral, near Motherwell, in late 2025, you’ll be an integral part of this next stage of growth.

Your Impact:

  • Take ownership of projects from the design stage through to test and commissioning.
  • Develop control systems solutions tailored to specific project needs, including working with PLCs (ST and Ladder Logic).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers at our French facility, to deliver effective solutions.
  • Analyse data to improve the performance and functionality of equipment.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new machines as IBS moves toward OEM manufacturing.
  • Work directly with external suppliers and clients to ensure the technical requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain documentation and procedures, including functional flow charts.
  • Provide training to in-house and external personnel.

What You’ll Need:

  • Strong experience with PLC control systems (both ST and Ladder Logic).
  • Background in control systems or mechatronics.
  • Ability to fault-find to the component level using a variety of test equipment.
  • Educated to HNC/Degree level.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • A hands-on, solution-driven approach to control systems challenges.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
