IOM3 is the leading membership organisation for the materials, minerals and mining sectors, and this new role will be responsible for developing and delivering the Institute’s activities for 5 to learners and their teachers. This is an exciting opportunity to support IOM3 in delivering its commitment to supporting the teaching of materials, minerals and mining in schools.
The role will involve the creation of resources in a variety of formats and the delivery of presentations to groups of teachers and young people across the UK. The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge within the Institute's sphere of influence, which includes materials, minerals and mining, and a driver’s license. Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills with a passion for spreading knowledge to younger people are also essential.

Responsibilities:
- Support subscribers to the IOM3 School Affiliate Service by producing regular newsletters and promoting and delivering activities for schools.
- Identification, development and delivery of online resources to support the materials, minerals and mining topics within the 5- curriculum. This will involve using your technical knowledge to write, but may include the help of technical communities and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Identification, development and delivery of the annual IOM3 Teachers Conference, which typically takes place during the summer term. This will involve running sessions for teachers and working with others to identify suitable speakers.
- Identification, development and delivery of 2-day CPD courses for teachers. This will involve delivering technical presentations to teachers and identifying other experts to support the activity. These courses typically run on Friday and Saturday.
- Supporting the organisation and delivery of the Polymer Study Tours, including giving technical presentations and running practical sessions on polymers.
- Supporting the organisation and delivery of competitions for schools, this will involve creating learning materials to support the competition theme that are relevant to the target audience.
- Supporting the organisation and delivery of the Magic of Materials course in collaboration with St Paul’s School. This will involve delivering presentations and running materials-themed practical activities.
- Scoping, developing and delivering initiatives to support primary school teachers as a subject specialist.
- Liaising with members, ALS and other stakeholders to encourage and support involvement in outreach.
- Collaborating with the Discover Materials, Minerals Matter and other initiatives to identify and support outreach activity within the materials cycle.
