ioLight was founded in 2014 following Richard Williams and Andrew Monk's patent for their miniature field microscope, leveraging advanced smartphone optics and wireless connectivity. With the opportunities presented by AI image recognition, our technology is even more far-reaching and is already exciting customers worldwide in environmental science and health. The ioLight microscope is highly portable and captures detailed images of plant and animal cells that can be viewed instantly on a tablet or smartphone. The company has since adapted the microscope for mammalian cell lines in laboratories, enabling cell growth monitoring within an incubator to prevent contamination. ioLight is also developing AI recognition to interpret microscope images, expanding the technology's applicability to remote and low-resource settings.
