IO Interactive is seeking a talented SDET to join our team on our Backbone team. We are currently working on two exciting game projects: Project 007 and Project Fantasy. Project 007 is a brand-new James Bond video game featuring an entirely original Bond story, and Project Fantasy is an ambitious new IP for console and PC that will revolutionise the fantasy RPG genre. As we work on these exciting projects, we need a skilled professional to assist us in the development of our state-of-the-art propriety game development engine, Glacier.
What you will do:
- Test Engineering & Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions and frameworks for game systems, tools, and pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with developers to integrate testing into the development lifecycle.
- Develop and execute test cases using both automated and manual approaches where appropriate.
- Perform regression testing to ensure build stability and feature reliability.
- Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and execution speed.
- Software Testing in an Agile Environment
- Participate in structured testing within an agile development process.
- Validate new features, systems, and tools from a technical and functional perspective.
- Investigate defects, assist with debugging, and verify fixes.
- Ensure quality standards are upheld across builds and milestones.
- Tools, Pipelines & Infrastructure
- Apply knowledge of the game engine and internal tools used in development.
- Build and improve testing tools, frameworks, and workflows to increase efficiency.
- Contribute to and support CI/CD pipelines and build infrastructure from a quality perspective.
- QA Research & Development
- Evaluate testing needs for new features and systems.
- Research and prototype new testing approaches, tools, and technologies.
- Support Leads and management in evolving QA frameworks and technical strategies.
- Create and maintain documentation for both QA and non-QA team members.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Be an advocate for automated testing across the company and across all disciplines.
- Work closely with the QA department, sharing knowledge and supporting them where needed.
Who you are:
- 1–3 years of experience in a QA, SDET, or software testing role (games industry experience is a plus).
- Strong foundation in software testing principles and quality engineering.
- Experience with test automation and scripting/programming (C# and Python preferred).
- Familiarity with build pipelines, CI/CD systems, or development infrastructure.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven by high quality standards.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Passion for video games, ideally with an interest in fantasy-style games.
- Work showcases (e.g. shipped titles, GitHub, personal projects, website, or YouTube) are a plus.
