iO are supporting a major UK engineering organisation operating across nuclear, defence & decommissioning programmes. They are looking for a Senior Safety Case Engineer to join a Business Winning / early-phase function, where you will help shape safety strategies, define credible delivery approaches, and influence outcomes on high-value bids before projects go live.
You would be expected to:
- Lead / coordinate safety case input into bids and proposals
- Define safety scope, delivery assumptions, schedules, and verification / assurance plans
- Produce and review safety case documentation, technical reports, and supporting justification
- Support / lead hazard identification and risk assessment activity
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to drive a consistent, high-quality approach
- Support engagement with customers / regulators as required during bid stages
Key skills and experience:
- Strong background delivering safety case work in a highly regulated / safety-critical environment (ideally nuclear or defence)
- Demonstrable experience writing / reviewing safety case documentation and technical submissions
- Good working knowledge of ALARP and familiarity with ONR Safety Assessment Principles
- Able to deliver structured technical analysis and communicate clear, evidence-based arguments
- Comfortable influencing stakeholders across engineering, delivery, and commercial/bid teams
- Degree in a relevant engineering / science discipline (or equivalent experience)
