iO Associates is partnering with a rapidly growing aerospace engineering and testing organisation to recruit a Certification Manager to lead its FAA flammability certification function. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership position while being supported on the pathway to becoming an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER). The Opportunity
As Certification Manager, you will take ownership of customer certification programmes, act as the technical lead for flammability compliance activities, and play a key role in developing the company's certification strategy. Working closely with customers, engineering teams and regulatory stakeholders, you’ll lead certification activities while building the foundations of a growing certification department. Key Responsibilities
- Lead aerospace flammability certification programmes from planning through to compliance.
- Prepare certification test plans, reports and technical documentation.
- Interpret FAA regulations and determine applicable flammability compliance requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, materials and design data for certification compliance.
- Conduct and witness aircraft material and component flammability testing.
- Provide technical certification guidance to customers throughout project delivery.
- Develop and improve certification processes, procedures and best practices.
- Build and mentor a growing certification team as the business expands.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape the future direction of the certification function.
About You
We’re looking for experienced aerospace certification professionals who have:
- Significant experience in aerospace certification, with a strong background in aircraft flammability compliance.
- Knowledge of FAA certification requirements and aircraft material qualification.
- Experience producing certification documentation, test plans and compliance reports.
- The ability to work directly with customers and regulatory authorities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A desire to develop into a people leader and build a high-performing certification team.
