About the role
We’re hiring a Data Protection & Governance Coach to develop the next generation of analysts and governance specialists through a Level 4 Apprenticeship designed around real organisational data challenges (not dry theory). This is your chance to shape how the UK learns data ethics, governance, risk, and compliance in a hands‑on, scenario‑led programme.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all teaching and assessment aligns directly with the mandatory Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard for Data Protection & Information Governance Practitioner.
- Deliver and assess content that prepares apprentices for the nationally recognised apprenticeship.
- Maintain an active record of learner evidence, providing clear feedback and direction for learning; regularly meet with learners and managers to check progress and relevant application within the workplace.
- Design, prepare, and deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons, workshops, and coaching sessions, managing approximately 25‑30 hours of student‑facing time per week.
- Oversee and guide apprentices through the execution of large‑scale, industry‑relevant projects inside our synthetic company, Prism.
- Prepare apprentices thoroughly for their final End‑Point Assessment (EPA).
- Provide personalised, ongoing coaching focusing critically on technical mastery and essential soft skills: curiosity, problem‑solving, critical thinking, and compelling storytelling.
- Assess apprentice performance, provide detailed, constructive feedback on analysis, and ensure high retention and success rates.
- Run scenario‑based governance projects inside Prism and prepare apprentices for milestone assessments and EPA.
- Collaborate with Quality to set up observation cycles and ensure all programme evidence is audit‑ready in Aptem.
Qualifications
- Practical experience in Data Protection, Information Governance, Compliance, or Risk.
- Hands‑on knowledge of GDPR, data ethics, information security, and governance frameworks.
- Experience writing or reviewing governance artefacts: DPIAs, RoPAs, retention schedules, policies.
- Strong communication skills & ability to explain complex regulation simply.
- Confidence coaching adults in a structured learning environment.
- Teaching or assessing qualifications (AET / CAVA) are a bonus, not a blocker.
- Deliver the DPIG pathway independently.
- Build strong learner relationships and coaching rhythms.
