We are supporting a global enterprise software services organisation seeking an experienced SAP HR/Payroll ABAP Developer to join its remote support and engineering team.
This role focuses on developing and maintaining payroll, tax, legal and regulatory solutions across multiple European countries within SAP HCM Payroll environments. You'll work closely with in-country Business Analysts and payroll specialists to deliver statutory updates, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure ongoing compliance with local payroll legislation.
Unlike traditional project-based consulting, this is an on-demand support and enhancement role. Work is delivered as customer demand arises, providing flexibility and exposure to a wide variety of SAP Payroll challenges across different clients and countries.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop and maintain SAP HR/HCM Payroll solutions within SAP ECC environments.
- Deliver payroll, tax and statutory compliance updates for multiple European countries.
- Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll-related technical issues.
- Support debugging and root-cause analysis across integrated SAP business processes.
- Conduct unit, regression and functional testing of development changes.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and payroll subject matter experts to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum-based development activities.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- 5+ years SAP HR/HCM Payroll development experience.
- Strong ABAP development skills within SAP HR/Payroll.
- Experience supporting European payrolls, ideally across multiple countries such as the UK, Spain, Germany, France or Italy.
- Good understanding of payroll legislation, tax and compliance requirements.
- Experience working in support, enhancement or managed services environments.
- Ability to investigate and resolve complex technical and functional payroll issues.
- SAP HANA experience.
- Spanish language skills.
- Experience supporting multiple concurrent client environments.
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
- This engagement operates within a global support model rather than a traditional full-time project assignment.
