Public Sector Grant Assessor Technical & Non Technical

Location: UK Remote
Contract Type: Associate / Call-Off Assignment
Hours: Typically 4-25 hours per week depending on assignment volume
Duration: Initial Associate Bench Period with Future Call-Off Opportunities
Rate: Competitive Day Rates Available

The Opportunity

We are building a pool of experienced Grant Assessors to support the assessment, scoring and moderation of public sector funding applications.

We are recruiting for two distinct assessor specialisms:

1. Skills & Employment Grant Assessors

Supporting the assessment of applications relating to skills, employability, education, training and workforce development programmes.

2. Capital & Technical Grant Assessors

Supporting the assessment of applications relating to capital projects, estates, construction, facilities, infrastructure, procurement and sustainability initiatives.

Applicants may apply for one role or both roles where they possess relevant experience.

Skills & Employment Grant Assessor

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous grant assessment, bid evaluation or public funding review experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to assess applications objectively against defined criteria.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HNC, HND, Degree, Professional Membership or equivalent technical/commercial experience.
  • Experience reviewing business cases, capital projects, infrastructure or technical proposals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to evaluate value for money, delivery risk and project viability.

Expected Commitment

Key Responsibilities

Successful assessors may be involved in:

  • Reviewing funding applications against published criteria.
  • Assessing evidence, outcomes and delivery proposals.
  • Producing clear and evidence-based scoring rationales.
  • Evaluating risks, value for money and applicant credibility.
  • Supporting moderation and calibration exercises.
  • Maintaining accurate and auditable assessment records.
  • Contributing to transparent and defensible funding decisions.

Additional Information

  • UK-based candidates only.
  • Occasional London-based meetings may be required.
  • Work will be provided on a call-off basis and is not guaranteed.
  • Candidates must be willing to complete confidentiality, conflict-of-interest and secure data-handling requirements.
  • Previous experience within grants, funding, education, employability, construction, capital programmes or public sector assessment environments is highly desirable.
