A pioneering space technology company is seeking an experienced Electronics Technician to support the build, integration and testing of next-generation satellite propulsion and spacecraft systems. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly innovative engineering team developing cutting-edge low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology designed to transform global connectivity and in-orbit capabilities.
The Role:
You will play a hands-on role supporting the assembly, integration and testing of flight-quality electronic hardware, harnesses and propulsion subsystems used within advanced spacecraft platforms. Working closely with electronics, software, systems and spacecraft engineers, you will contribute across the full hardware lifecycle - from board assembly and cable harnessing through to environmental testing and spacecraft integration activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, rework and inspect electronic boards to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
- Build and terminate wiring harnesses and cable assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Perform soldering, crimping, cable lacing and connector assembly activities
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and assembly procedures
- Maintain detailed build records, test logs and hardware traceability documentation
- Support Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) activities on spacecraft and electronic systems
- Build mechanical and electrical test setups from engineering drawings and procedures
- Operate and maintain lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQ systems, power supplies and electronic loads
- Support functional, environmental and performance testing of electronic and propulsion hardware
- Follow strict ESD and cleanroom working practices where required
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Electronics Technician, AIT Technician, Avionics Technician or similar within the space or satellite industry
- Proven experience working on satellite, spacecraft or LEO-related hardware programmes
- IPC-A-610 Class 3 certification or demonstrable equivalent experience
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification for harness and cable assembly
- Strong hands-on experience assembling, reworking and inspecting electronic boards and harnesses
- Experience supporting integration and testing activities on high-reliability hardware
- Confident using lab instrumentation including oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
- Strong documentation, quality control and traceability discipline
- Knowledge of ESD-safe working practices
Desirable Experience:
- J-STD-001 certification (Space Addendum highly desirable)
- Experience within cleanroom or ISO-classified environments
- Familiarity with ECSS standards, particularly ECSS-Q-ST-70
- Experience working with high-voltage or power electronics systems
- Exposure to propulsion systems, spacecraft avionics or satellite subsystems
- Basic CAD literacy using SolidWorks, NX or CATIA
What's on Offer:
- Opportunity to work on ground breaking satellite and propulsion technologies
- Exposure to full spacecraft hardware lifecycle activities
- Competitive salary package
- Equity/share options
- Private healthcare including dental and optical cover
- Annual health assessments
- Hybrid working model
