iO Associates have been engaged by a central government organisation to find a Prompt Engineer to design, test, and optimise prompts for large language models that power AI co-pilots and autonomous agents. Working at the heart of public sector transformation, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure AI delivers accurate, safe, and contextually relevant outputs that improve services for citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build agent architectures enabling autonomy and task completion
  • Integrate AI agents into apps, APIs, and automation workflows
  • Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams
  • Optimise agent behaviour via feedback and user interaction
  • Evaluate performance and maintain safety mechanisms
  • Document agent logic, design, and dependencies

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience designing and refining LLM prompts and AI agents
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing outputs and interactions
  • Experience managing prompt libraries and best-practice templates
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and key performance metrics
  • Up-to-date understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, and agentic AI
