Join a growing engineering organisation specialising in the design and delivery of high-voltage substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex grid-scale renewable and energy infrastructure projects, contributing to the UK\’s transition toward net zero.

As a Power System Design Engineer, you\’ll take ownership of electrical design and analysis activities, ensuring technically sound, grid-compliant, and build able solutions. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you\’ll play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver power system design packages for HV substations, grid connections, and BESS projects (11-400 kV).
• Develop SLDs, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and earthing/bonding designs.
• Perform power system studies – including load flow, fault level, protection coordination, harmonic, and dynamic stability analysis.
• Support grid connection applications and compliance submissions with DNOs/TOs/NGESO, ensuring adherence to relevant standards.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in power system design within HV substations, grid connections, or BESS projects.
• Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, grid code compliance, and UK DNO/TO standards.
• Proficiency in power system modelling software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, or IPSA.
