We’re working with an established organisation in Bristol that is looking for a Junior Data Analyst to join their growing data team.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their data career with a strong foundation in SQL, who wants to develop their experience across data retrieval, data modelling, Power BI and business reporting.

The Role

You’ll work with business data to produce accurate, reliable reporting and analysis. A key part of the role will be using SQL to retrieve, manipulate and model data from relational databases, ensuring data is structured correctly and ready for reporting and analysis.

You’ll also work closely with stakeholders to understand their reporting requirements and translate these into practical data solutions, including Power BI reports and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

Use SQL to retrieve, manipulate and analyse data from relational databases.

Build and maintain data models to support reporting and analytics.

Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, using DAX where required.

Work with stakeholders to understand their reporting requirements.

Validate, cleanse and reconcile data to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Investigate data issues and resolve reporting discrepancies.

Test reports and datasets against source data.

Maintain documentation around data sources, definitions and transformations.

Support wider data quality, governance and reporting initiatives.

This will be a 2 stage interview process and for the right candidate my client can interview next week!

The key requirement is strong SQL knowledge and an understanding of how data is structured and modelled.

You’ll ideally have:

Good working knowledge of SQL, including joins, filtering, aggregation, subqueries and data manipulation.

An understanding of relational databases and data modelling.

Some practical experience with Power BI, including reports and dashboards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.
