Google Cloud Application Operator is required to support the delivery and operation of secure cloud services within a large-scale government programme.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, support and maintain applications across Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Support applications running within secure cloud environments, including Google Distributed Cloud (training and support will be provided where required).
  • Monitor application health, performance and availability using Google Cloud Operations Suite.
  • Support deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform operational activities including configuration changes, patching, troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
  • Manage IAM, service accounts and cloud security policies.
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture and security teams.
  • Support application deployment, migration and testing activities.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Commercial experience supporting and operating workloads within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with Kubernetes/GKE or containerised applications.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Good understanding of cloud networking, IAM and operational best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments is desirable but not essential.
  • Exposure to Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) or an interest in learning it.
  • Google Cloud certifications.
  • Experience within government, defence or other regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge of secure cloud architectures.
  • 12-month contract
  • Hybrid working with 3 days onsite in Central London
