Role: Senior Network Consultant

Client / Programme: Public Sector Programme

Contract Length: Project Running through to the End of 2027

Clearance: Active Clearance required (client can hold/maintain clearances for contractors)

Location / Travel: England Hybrid – typically 1-2 days/week in London or once per fortnight (depending on needs). Travel to data centre sites as required across the UK.

Overview

We are supporting a public sector programme focused on building ESM (Enterprise Service Management) capability and delivering/operating critical network services, including a mobile network environment supporting emergency services locations. The environment is heavily centred around on-premises data centres and requires strong, hands‑on network leadership. This is a contract‑only engagement (the client does not offer permanent positions to contractors).

Role Summary

You will join a large network team providing technical direction and delivery oversight across on-prem data centre networking and associated secure connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of network engineers delivering secure network services for a public sector programme.
  • Contribute to the design, build, and improvement of on-prem data centre network infrastructure.
  • Support delivery of a mobile network capability aligned to operational sites (including emergency services locations).
  • Drive strong technical standards: documentation, troubleshooting, implementation planning, and operational readiness.
  • Provide hands‑on technical input (this is not a “powerpoint-only” lead role).
  • Support stakeholder engagement across technical teams and delivery functions as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Active Clearance (mandatory).
  • Strong track record working within secure / public sector network environments.
  • Proven experience with on-prem data centre networking (design/build/operate).
  • Prior experience as a Team Lead / Technical Lead within a network function.
  • Comfortable operating in environments where teams expect you to be technically strong and credible under pressure.
  • Able to travel to multiple UK sites on an as‑needed basis (London + DC locations).

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting large programmes with multiple sites / complex service delivery.
  • Experience with ESM-aligned programmes (building or integrating service management capability).
